Sports Massage Association Entrance Examination Level 4.

The SMA Entrance Examination for entry to professional membership at Level 4 is relaunched.

The normal route for Level 4 SMA membership is via an SMA accredited provider however the Association recognises that sometimes practitioners have acquired sufficient knowledge and skills in sports massage through other routes. Accordingly the Association offer the opportunity to those practitioners to demonstrate that they meet the minimum requirements for Level 4 entry to the SMA.

The previous arrangement for the conduct of the SMA examination by an external sub-contract provider has been concluded and examinations will in future be arranged and conducted by the Association. It is intended to run the examination twice yearly or more frequently according to demand.

The entry components for the examination comprise:

Completion of a written application form, a written paper, a practical scenario and viva, evidence of CPD and a current First Aid certificate. In addition each candidate shall submit a practise Logbook and associated case study.

The fee for the entrance examination is (as previously) £275.00.

The next SMA examination will be held on Saturday 5th June 2009.
